HAVE YOU EVER TRIED CLIMBING A ROPE MILITARY STYLE?

It’s an exercise for developing the upper body, as well as building an iron grip and improving agility and coordination skills

Military utilize rope work as part of their training—— why is this important?

Ropes and knots act as a lifelines in dangerous environments such as when crossing a fast flowing river or scaling a mountain side

So what.

“that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.””

??Deuteronomy? ?30:20? ?

imagine each situation that comes in your life as you climbing a rope. Each time our hands slip from the rope, and the grip of holding on isn’t there. That is us trying to climb the situation and figure it out ourselves. Each time we try we slip We are trying to grab ahold of the rope to cross this fast flowing river.

Okay so what if I told you that you don’t have to slip anymore. That you can always have a natural grip even without sweating. The fast flowing river doesn’t even concern you.

The first part of deuteronomy 30:20 talks about the love for the lord. Being madly in love with the lord that’s the first step to trusting the rope. The next line says that you may obey his voice-

so does this apply to obeying the lord? — “to cast out all your enemies( doubts, lies about yourself, stress, worry, anxiety, anger, etc.) from before you, as the lord has spoken.” deuternonmy 6:19 Ask yourself does obeying the lord mean to also cast out all your enemies too? He did speak this.

okay great where is this going…

When you cast ALL your enemies from before you

“and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days”

We take that rope which represents the lord and we cling on to him instead of constant slipping and figuring out the situation individually. We cling to the lord with all our love, obedience, and trust. That when the fast flowing river comes you will be calm and at peace because you won’t slip anymore.

  1. Psalm 103:7 (RSV) says He revealed His character to Moses and His deeds to the people of Israel. It is obvious from your blog you are coming to a deeper understanding if the nature of God. You bless us with your words. Remember to take good care of you. Prayers continue. AC & UJ

  2. Rachel….How beautiful and TRUE this is. To love Him. Thanks for reminding us that we have to hold on to Him. Only Him. Also, it is EXCELLENTLY written. EXCELLENT. We are praying for you several times a day.

  3. Beautiful picture and practical truth! He is our strong tower whose words and grace are wholly sufficient for us. All other ground is sinking sand. Thank you for sharing this reminder!

  4. What hope as we cling to His promises ! Our strength and refuge. Thank you for sharing and reminding us. He never fails us.
Continued prayers with lots of hugs. ??

  5. What a great analogy Rachel! We as people are too quick to trust in our strength and not abide in His love. Then we get to obey Him and love Him through obedience. John 14:15 “if you love Me you will obey my commands.” Keep seeking Him and learning what it is to love Him.

  6. Rachel,
“The first part of deuteronomy 30:20 talks about the love for the lord. Being madly in love with the lord that’s the first step to trusting the rope. The next line says that you may obey his voice”
I love this – keep trusting the Rope. This is a great analogy of how strong God is when we are weak. We are praying for you.
    Much Love

  7. Great analogy!! True story, I’m up in the air on a manlift and the the lift runs out of gas at 35 feet in the air. I thought it might happen, so I brought a rope. Sliding down the rope could burn my hands, so I started to make knots. Each knot would get me closer to the ground without freefalling or burning my hands. Getting down requires 4 other things, strength, courage, no fear of heights and the right length of rope. Heights will not separate us from the love of God (Rom 8:39), Be strong and courageous, (Jos 1:9) and cling to Him, He is your life (rope) for length of your days. Deut 30:20
